BIOGRAPHY - P.G. PETTERSSON
Born 1964 in Blacktown, NSW, Paul began drawing and creating clay and plaster sculptures as early as 4. By the age of 10 his gift was obvious, scribbling caricatures in classmate's books for 2 bob. "We all know who drew this" exclaimed teacher holding Johnny's book. In high school he clashed with the art teacher and was expelled. Refusing to play the game, art was abandoned and suppressed , excelling in woodwork and sport instead. Creativity is such a deep and powerful force, an aspect of ourselves that is often disregarded or denied. At 30 after a crisis and intense re-birthing sessions he decided to paint, Nature was immortalised with raw urgency which was again ignited . Having lived in Cairns , Whitsundays, Pomona and traveled extensively throughout South East Asia and now settled in Hervey Bay, he soon became aware of the infinite pictorial possibilities which nature offers. Having a desire to add some beauty, he feels there is far too much destruction, greed and bullshit going on. Paul's work aims at a heightened realism and an underlying depth of feeling with an aesthetic experience. He feels our spiritual needs are ultimately rooted in nature, the source of inspiration and belonging. Man needs to rediscover our place in nature and live in balance with our surroundings. Having had Seven solo and five joint exhibitions with numerous awards his works hang in private, public and corporate collections.
